Grief Support in Schools

The Academy provides grieving students and staff (preK-12) the opportunity to connect with their peers as they learn and grow through their grief.

Grief Resource Lending Library

Our lending library is open to the public every day and houses an extensive collection of resources pertaining to grief and loss for all ages: Books, periodicals, brochures and videos.

Living Tribute

Each summer, we host a dedication ceremony at the Blank Park Zoo for the families Hamilton’s has served in the past year. At the ceremony, a particular area of the zoo is dedicated as a tribute to those who have died, giving families a place to honor their loved ones.

Healing Hearts

Healing Hearts is a three-session grief program designed to give children ages 8 to 12 an opportunity to interact with other children their age who have experienced the loss of a loved one.

Little Hands

Through play, stories, games, songs, art and conversations with our bunny puppet, Hamilton, children ages 3½ to 6 get a chance to interact with others their age who have also experienced the death of a loved one.

Family Support Dogs at Hamilton's

To provide extra comfort to people during one of the most difficult times in their lives, we are broadening the level of support we provide to our families with Family Support Dogs.

Miscarriage Memorial Services

In cooperation with Des Moines area hospitals, we offer our facilities for cremation and memorial services for families who have had a baby die prior to 20 weeks gestation.
