Cindy Sue Timko – also, known as Nene by her grandbabies, 72, passed away on August 2, 2025 at Greater Southside in Des Moines. She was born to Donald and Helen (Reese) Merryfield on May 22, 1953 in Des Moines.
Cindy was a beloved bartender at Highland Park Country Club, known by all for her warm heart and superb cooking. Always kind, always caring, she had a gift for listening and making people feel truly seen. Her visits to Prairie Meadows and the ocean at South Padre Island were always a favorite of hers.
Family was everything to Cindy, being a mother and grandmother wasn’t just a role—it was her passion, her purpose, and her joy. She was the true definition of a mother in every sense of the word.

What a wonderful person, she was a great bartender, and cook, her tacos were legendary and her guinea grinder out of this worlds, she was an avid Hawkeye fan and I will miss her though I hadn't seen her since the bar closed down more than five years ago
