Born October 10, 2007 - Died February 3, 2023

Cooper may have been little, but he was mighty. In his youth, he was a hunter. He was incredibly fast for a little dog. He captured 7 rabbits one summer and a bird out of the air. He had a particular set of skills that allowed him to jump from the floor onto the counter and climb barstools to get to treats – bringing about a torn ACL and blown knee. He could sit, shake hands, walk on his hind legs, and dance for treats. He loved squeaky toys. Mostly to destroy the squeaker. Cooper was the heart of the family. So much so he was an honorary member of his parents’ wedding. Tux and all.

In his senior years, he preferred wagon rides around the neighborhood, trips in the car, belly rubs, and, of course, tons of treats. Cooper brought an endless amount of joy to our family. He loved every one, but not so much the cat. Although it was hard to say goodbye, we knew it was time to let him go. He’s free to walk without pain, run without restraints, and chase bunnies with wild abandonment. When you hear someone say, “Who’s a good boy,” it was Cooper.

A big thank you to Dr. Harmon with Oaks Veterinary Clinic in Des Moines and Iowa State University Veterinary Medicine for all they did to keep him happy and pain-free throughout his senior years.
