William Stuart Matheny, 91, passed away on July 16, 2024 at Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines. He was born on October 23, 1932 to Ernest and Pearl (Anderson) Matheny.
Bill was an amazing husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. Anyone who met him will forever remember his sense of humor. The love of his life held his hand to the very end. He will surely be missed.
Bill is survived by his wife, Lois; daughters, Jennifer Matheny and Diane Dickey; son, Jeff Matheny; grandchildren Melissa Farmer (Ed) Mike Dickey (Larissa); great grandchildren, Kayden Kern, Payton Dickey and Keaton Dickey
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Pearl Matheny; his brothers, Robert, Richard and Earnest.
Family will greet guests on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street S.W., Altoona. Following visitation, a funeral service will take place at 12:00 p.m., at the funeral home.

So many fond memories of times spent with Bill and Lois. Bill saw the humor in almost every situation and could always be relied on to tell a joke. More than his sense of humor though is that he was always willing to help anyone who needed it. He just quietly did what was required and many people benefited from knowing him. He will be missed. Much love and sympathy to his family.

Bill was a great person, always smiles, telling you jokes, his laughter was continuous. Never knew a stranger. Knew him for at lease 50, years. He will be missed. Love to his family .
