Wendy Newby

We are diminished by the loss of Wendy Lee (Rodda) Newby, 65, who died unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. She was born on July 14, 1958 to Lee and Helen (Williams) Rodda.

Wendy was the only girl of four and the youngest. She graduated from Southeast Polk High School in 1976. She enjoyed watching old TV reruns and loved music, especially the Beatles and Blues. Wendy spent many memorable 4th of July holidays enjoying the Mississippi Valley Blues Festival in Davenport, Iowa. She also enjoyed gardening and being outdoors.

Wendy was a friend to all and never knew a stranger. Her home was always open to those in need. She had a kind and generous heart and will be missed by many, many people (and cats).

She is survived by her sons, Josh (Billie) Newby and Scott Newby; brothers, Steve Rodda, Ken Rodda and Jeff (Pat) Rodda; aunt and uncle, Lyle and Mary Rodda; nieces, nephews and her cats, Sampson and Daisy.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., at Windsor Presbyterian Church, 6301 University Ave., Windsor Heights, Iowa.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family or the Animal Rescue League in loving memory of Wendy.
