Vienthiene Baccam

Vienthiene Baccam “Bien or Vien”, 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at her home.

Born on August 12, 1939, in Son La, Vietnam, she was the sole daughter of 10 children born to Pau and Khing Baccam. Vien was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all - earning her the affectionate name “Em” (Mom) to many who knew her.

She is survived by her nine children, 19 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and other close family members.

Known for her kindness and warmth, she was a talented seamstress who crafted beautiful pieces, bringing joy to her loved ones. She also expressed her love through food, sharing simple yet comforting home-cooked meals.

Above all, she cherished spending time with her husband, Oudone Kouangvongthien, and the beautiful family they built together.

Tinh Kouangvongthiene, married to Phetsomphone Backham and their son Aopha (Tiffany);

Chith Kouangvongthien;

Patrick Kouangvongthien with three children: Edward, Savannah and Max;

Her Daughters:

Kay, Nuoc, Lovanrack, married to Tiene with three children: Vivian (Bobby), Alvin (Tina), Sylvia (Sonny), and grandchildren Donovan, Julian, and Quinn;

Vonda Allee with two children: Emily (Cole), Lindsey (Casey), and grandchildren Braxton, Bailey, and Mira;

Bianca, Boua, Thompson, married to Phil with three children: Phillip Jr, Felisha (Aaron), Anita (Danny), and grandchild Liam;

Lynn Wilkinson, married to Ian with four children: Kole, Brevin, Brenee, Brandon (Hoc), and grandchild Landon;

China Lem with two children: Adrian and Ashton;

Vienna Hoang, married to Lowe with a daughter, Lysette.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband and soul mate - Oudone Kouangvongthien; 8 other siblings, 1 child, and her mother and father.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m., Monday, November 4, 2024, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines.
