Ty Turner
December 31, 1958 — January 25, 2025
Ty Turner, 66, passed away at his home on January 29, 2025.
Ty was born on December 31, 1958 in Omaha, Nebraska to Lawrence “Larry” and Marjorie “Marge” (Meeks) Turner. When he was in the 2nd grade, his family moved to California for a year, they then moved to Indianola, Iowa. In 1984, Ty was fishing off Jackson Street Bridge when he met the love of his life, Carrie Horstman. He gave her a ride home, the couple married in 1992, and together they built a beautiful life.
Ty loved building things. He began working in construction at the age of 17 as a residential framer. In 1990, Ty started Turner Construction and continued operating his own framing business until his retirement in 2024. He and Carrie loved to go hunting. Every time he went fishing, he always caught something. He was known as a “Lucky Fisherman”. They also traveled across Iowa participating in Civil War reenactments, a hobby they thoroughly enjoyed together for 20 years.
Ty is survived by his loving wife, Carrie; son, Rusty; granddaughters, Halle and Taylor; mother, Marge; sister, Evelyn; brother, Tim (Holly); mother-in-law, Marge Horstman; brother-in-law, Jim King; sisters-in-law; Julie King and Theresa (Ron) Bougher; nieces and nephews, Danielle, Rose, Michael, Dawn, Jimmie, Fred, Bailee, Rhea, McKenna and Caden; and a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry; sister, Karen; father-in-law Tex Horstman; brothers-in-law, Wayne Halterman, Martin Watson, and Steve Horstman.
