Stewart Walmsley

Stewart Walmsley of Blackburn, Lancashire, England passed away on October 12, 2023. He was 76 years old.

Stewart served in the Royal British Army and was stationed in Hong Kong as a military mail carrier.

Stewart became an American Citizen in 1990, as he thought, “if I live here, I want to be able to vote.”

Stewart was an avid computer enthusiast, loving father, and husband. He dabbled in computer games playing World of Warcraft for many years, often reaching out to his son’s friends, making memories and conversations.

Stewart was pen pals with Diane for years before meeting in person, when he then took a leap of faith, bought a one-way plane ticket to Bondurant, IA, after getting fogged in, in Chicago, he had to stay at a RA-MA-DA Inn. He made it to Bondurant and proposed. Stewart and Diane were married for 44 years.

Stewart worked downtown at Systems Parking for many years prior to finishing his working days as a Custodial Engineer at Bondurant Farrar Schools for over 15 years.

Stewart is survived by his wife, Diane Lynn Walmsley, son, Ian Stewart Walmsley, daughter-in-law Brittany Marlita Walmsley, and his furry friend Latte.

Service will be held Wednesday October 18th, 2023, at 10:30am at Hamilton’s Funeral Home in Altoona, IA. A one-hour visitation will be held before the service. Celebration of Life will be held after at Diane Walmsley’s residence.
