I met Shirley in a volunteer group we both belonged to in Altoona. After the group dissolved she still made the effort to get us past members together every few months, to connect and share what was going on in our lives. She was kind, thoughtful, and always willing to share her thoughts. She talked about her family fondly, especially the grandchildren. Deepest sympathies to her family and friends.

She was always Shirley Shivers to me. She was a long time childhood friend to my mother, Shirley Foster Giebel. When she would come down to St. Louis to see my mom, they would giggle like girls. They would just have so much fun and I loved seeing them together. She always called me Gina girl. She was a wonderful friend to my mom and to me.
