Sharon Milligan

Sharon Milligan, 74, passed away at Unity Point Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines on October 1, 2024.

Born on August 9, 1950, in Blythe, California, Sharon was the daughter of Theodore and Leanora (Dekens) Milligan. She graduated from Ames High School and completed her nursing education in 1971, later earning her Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Saint Francis. Sharon dedicated over 40 years to her career as a Registered Nurse at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, where she formed lasting friendships and enjoyed mentoring new nurses before retiring in 2015.

Sharon cherished her time with family, often reminiscing about their history and shared memories. She loved spoiling her beloved bulldogs, Eeyore and Bella, and was an avid supporter of the Iowa State Cyclones football team.

She is survived by her son, Patrick Milligan; her siblings, Greg (Jamie) Milligan, Rita Milligan-Stephans, and Janet (Stephan) Garnett; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Donald Milligan, Michael Milligan, and infant brother Teddy Milligan; her significant other, Dennis Erickson; and her cherished bulldog, Eeyore.

The family will welcome friends on Saturday, October 12, 2024, beginning at 12:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, located at 5400 SW 9th Street.
