Sharon K. Fisher (83) of Des Moines passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, November 3, 2024.

She was born on February 5, 1941, to Kenneth Raymond Cockayne and Easter Bernice Judkins. She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1958 and went on to work as a cosmetologist. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially enjoying her grandchildren with her late husband, Jerry Eugene Fisher. Since his passing, she was blessed with four great grandchildren, whom she adored.

Sharon enjoyed many hobbies including softball, bowling, and horseshoes. She was a lifelong Iowa Hawkeyes fan and loved the Chicago Cubs. She was known for her quick wit and larger than life personality. Sharon loved hosting events for her friends and family, going as far as having horseshoe pits installed in her yard for tournaments that anyone could enjoy.

Sharon is survived by her loving sister Karolyn Fitzgibbon, her three children Jack (Ericka) La Mar, Jill (Jerrod) Willier, Casey La Mar, nine grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Easter Bernice Judkins and Kenneth Raymond Cockayne, her husband Jerry Eugene Fisher, and her siblings Kenneth (Casey) Raymond Cockayne Jr., Dennis Lee Cockayne, and Denise Lynn Cockayne.

Family will greet friends at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St., Des Moines on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. for visitation followed by a celebration of life starting at 2:30 p.m. A luncheon will follow at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 6567 Bloomfield Rd., Des Moines, IA 50320.
