Samuel Lawrence Hurst, 86, passed away on December 26, 2023. He was born April 1, 1937 to his parents, Vernon and Mary Hurst.

Samuel is survived by his sons, Stan (Janis) Hurst and Sherman (Marj) Hurst; sister, LaDonna (David Bulmer) Hurst; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Liela Lee Thomas; daughters Linda Hurst and Lesa Ahrens; granddaughter, Rebecca; parents, Vernon and Mary Hurst; brothers, Dennis, Thomas and James Hurst.

Family will greet friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at St. Stephen Luthern Church, 3510 72nd Street, Urbandale, Iowa. A memorial service will be held the following day, Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at St. Stephen Lutheran Church at 10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Urbandale.
