Sally A. Ades
May 09, 1931 — April 02, 2024
Sally A. Ades, 92, passed away peacefully at home on April 2, 2024.
She was born on May 9, 1931 to Sam and Anna (Marasco) Sitroneto. She grew up on the Southside of Des Moines in an area called “Little Italy” and lived on the same street her whole life. Sally retired from the City of Des Moines working for Neighborhood Development. She lived a long, healthy, enjoyable life and took great pride and joy in her family, especially on holidays when she cooked her fabulous Italian meals. We got in a little trouble when we would sneak some fresh warm Krispy Krust Bread and dip it in the sauce before dinner was ready!
Sally had so much joy when she was blessed with grand and great-grandchildren. She was officially a “nana” or as they called her “nani”. Her hobby was the garden and flowers. Sally’s rose garden was so beautiful, and she enjoyed sharing them with friends and neighbors. She played the piano and organ her entire life and loved playing “Ragtime” with her friends. Sally played at various nursing homes and for her friends and family. She especially enjoyed playing during the Christmas season.
She was blessed with so many friends and enjoyed visiting for coffee or lunch. Some of which were unable to get out much so she made sure they had company and food. Many times her sons would stop to see her and she would be out visiting, something she did right up to the end. Her best talent was thrift shopping all over town and bragging about her finds.
Sally was preceded in death by her loving husband Lloyd; parents, Sam and Anna Sitroneto; sister, Theresa Campbell; and her brother, John (Mary) Sitroneto.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, John (Janet), Martin (Vicki) and Alan; grandchildren, Jeff (Anne) Ades and Jessica (T.J.) Gardner; along with great-grandchildren, Paisley and Joplin Gardner.
The family will greet friends Wednesday, April 10, 2024 from 10 am to 12 pm at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street with the funeral service to follow at 12 pm. Sally will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Grotto at St. Anthony’s Church.
Condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

I wish I knew where to start on recounting the memories with Sally! As children our families would be together often with us boys creating mischief (as boys will do) and our parents enjoying each other’s company. I don’t remember a time in my that I did not include the Ades family. They are truly part of the fabric of the St Anthony’s community. Sally is also part of the namesake of one of my daughters (named after 3 Sally’s in mine and my wife’s livers). I will always cherish these wonderful memories. Praise to God for a life well lived! May she rest in peace and the loving arms of God!

Dear Church Family
Your family was a prominent part of St Anthony’s linage even to the current with Alan.
I remember Sally at daily mass over the years and she gave me an angel keepsake when I needed it most
May eternal rest grant unto Sally oh Lord and may perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of the faithfully departed thru the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen

I was sorry to learn that Sally died on April 2nd. My deceased husband, Frank and I enjoyed Lloyd and Sally during the decades we attended St. Anthony’s together and all the other community events. Sally’s family and the community around “Little Italy” will miss her presence.
Eternal rest grant unto her Oh Lord, and May her soul rest in peace!
