Ronda Sue Kreis

Ronda Sue Kreis was born August 11, 1976 to Ronald and Mickey Johnston in Des Moines, Iowa. She passed away Monday December 23, 2024 at her home in Grimes, Iowa.

Ronda expressed her big heart early in her childhood. She loved to play ‘mom’ and ‘teacher’. She looked forward to a time when she would get to be a mom and care for her kids.

Ronda was a 1994 graduate of Lincoln High School. In high school, she enjoyed music and hanging out with her friends. She played clarinet and participated in the school marching band.

Ronda married Kevin at The Flamingo in Las Vegas, NV on June 3, 2005. The family still shares stories of the fun weekend in Vegas celebrating their marriage. They enjoyed 19 years together residing in Des Moines and Grimes, Iowa.

Ronda was a member of Prairie Creek Church in Grimes, where her relationship with God was important to her. She enjoyed the fellowship of her church family, and watching her boys grow their faith. Ronda was a proud boy mom. She took pride in living out that childhood dream of watching the kids in sports, cub scouts and other activities. She served on the Parent Teacher Organization for Dallas Center Grimes to support the teachers in her kids’ schools.

Ronda’s joy in life was her family, and being a stay at home mom to her boys. She passed away in that home, with those she cared for most.

Ronda is preceded in death by her father Ronald Johnston and paternal grandmother, Cornelia Wells; maternal grandparents, Pauline and Clinton Eddinger; aunt Virginia “Aunt Gin Gin” Mauk and Marion “Uncle Mar Mar” Black of Des Moines, Iowa; aunt Myrtle (Andy) Lawrence of Des Moines; uncle Larry (Pat) Eddinger of Des Moines; uncle Ray Lee Bear of Des Moines; uncle Billy Eddinger of Des Moines; and brother-in-law Cyle Claflin.

She is survived by two boys, Cameron 16 and Caden 9, and her husband Kevin, as well as her mother Evelyn “Mickey” Johnston of Des Moines; aunt Mary (Sherman) Allen of Kokomo, Indiana; aunt Esther (Bill) Schierholz, New Port Richie, Florida; her mother-in-law Carol (Larry) Woosley (Greenfield, Iowa), her father-in-law Denny Kreis (Greenfield, Iowa), brother-in-law Eric (Melissa) Woosley, sister-in-law Kate Claflin, nephew Nate (Taylor) Kreis and many cousins on both sides of the family who were dear to her.
