Ronald Dean Forest
Altoona, Iowa

After a valiant and courageous battle with ALS, Ronald Dean Forest passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. He was 72 years old.

Ron was born on October 4, 1952, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Charles and Dolores (Howard) Forest. A proud Teamster, Ron worked as a driver for Yellow Freight for 20 years. His strong work ethic and dedication were evident not only in his career but also in the successful business he built and operated—Forest Parking Lot Painting.

Ron met the love of his life, Deb, when they were just 14 years old. Over their 53 years of marriage, they built a life grounded in love, loyalty, and unwavering devotion to each other. Family was the heart of Ron’s world—he cherished every moment spent with those he loved. Whether it was hunting with his grandsons, playing cards, traveling together, or simply being present, Ron made every memory count. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his loved ones in his happy place—Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Deb; his daughter, Tricia (Kyle) Sloan; daughter-in-law, Leesa Hauk; and his treasured grandchildren, Alexis (Garrett) Boord, Kolby Forest, Kade Forest (Kaley), Lestat Day, Tjaden Sloan, and Jaxson Sloan. He is also survived by his siblings, Donna Palafoutas, Lynda (John) Kimberlin, and Jerry (Sue) Forest; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and special friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Trent, and his parents, Charles and Dolores.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all who cared for Ron in recent years, helping him remain at home, where he was most comfortable and at peace.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, Altoona, Iowa.

Memorial contributions may be directed to his family in loving memory of Ron.
