Roger Aller

Roger Aller, 84, of Des Moines died Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Norwalk Nursing and Rehab. Family will greet friends Monday, March 18, 2024 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. with memorial service following at 2 p.m at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home located at 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines.

Roger was born December 16, 1939, in Des Moines, IA to Charles and Betty Aller. Roger served four years in the U.S. Army. He spent a great amount of his life enjoying the outdoors. Roger loved camping and the time got to share with his family and friend while hunting and fishing. He loved going to Knoxville Raceway to watch the sprint car races and also enjoyed watching Nascar races. Roger was known for being a family man. He was always spending time with his family and helping them in anyway that he could. Roger worked for Firestone which he later retired from after nearly 38 years of employment.

Roger is survived by his sons, Roger Aller Jr. and Shawn (Dena) Aller of; grandchildren, Madilyn Aller and Aaron Aller; six great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Judy (Bruce) Lawless-Winfrey and Terry Aller. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Sherry Aller; his daughter, Tina Aller; his parents, Charles and Betty Aller; and his brother, Bob Aller.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Veteran’s Affairs or St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
