Rita A. Bartlett

Rita A. Bartlett, 72, passed away February 25, 2025 at Unity Point Iowa Methodist Medical Center.
Rita was born March 10, 1952 in Des Moines to Robert and Ernestine (Bishop) Hummel. She graduated from Lincoln High School and went on to receive her Associate’s Degree in Accounting from AIB. She later attended Grandview University. Rita worked for Dahl’s and later retired from the Department of Agriculture with the State of Iowa. She was a devout Christian and loved her Lord Jesus, which was evident in the way Rita lived her life. She opened her heart and her doors to those in need. Helping others came naturally for her. Rita’s pride and joy were her children and especially her granddaughter London and she loved spending time with all of them.
Rita is survived by her son, Ryan (Juliana) Bartlett; daughter, Anna Grace; granddaughter, London; sister, Nancy (Donald) Jennings; brother, Michael (Sherri) Hummel; her beloved dog, Mya; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard Hummel; and her former spouse, Richard Bartlett.
The family will greet friends Friday, March 7, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Church, 4200 E. 25th Street in Des Moines. Rita will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A luncheon will take place at Grace Church following the burial.

Haven't seen Rita in many, many years, but I remember her as one of the kindest people I ever met. Hugs to the family - I shared with our class. God bless!

Rita was a beautiful person inside and out. She never had an unkind word for anyone. She was the most kind, gentle, genuine and generous person that I have had the pleasure to know as a friend and co-worker and she was a true example of God's love.

I am so sorry for the family in the loss of Rita, she was one of a kind and all that knew her knew that.
What a beautiful tribute the keepsake video is. May you keep your memories close to your heart and know that Rita will always be there watching over you.
