Richard Rauzi

Richard “Rick” Gerard Rauzi passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024 at Kavanaugh Hospice House in Des Moines.
Rick was born on August 3, 1958 to Emma and Dominic Rauzi. He grew up in Eveleth, MN. He graduated from Eveleth High School in 1976. He attended the college of St. Scholastica in Duluth and Mankato State University in Mankato, where he received a Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling.
On May 30, 1987, Rick married Sharon (Weber) Rauzi. They have 2 children, Hayley Ann and Brett Andrew. Rick cherished his family and his many friends. Rick worked throughout his career in vocational, family, and substance abuse counseling before retiring in 2019.
Rick had a great love for God and nature, which he enjoyed through his photography. Rick also enjoyed music and its many venues; and was a musician himself playing the guitar and harmonica.
Rick is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughter, Hayley Ann Rauzi (Chris); son, Brett (Kelleryn) Rauzi; 3 grandchildren, Elizabeth (Beth), Rosalie and Matthias Rauzi; siblings, John (Elaine) Rauzi, Jim (Wendy) Rauzi, and Mary Rauzi; mother-in-law, Shirley Zobel and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other loving family members.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dominic and Emma Rauzi; brother, Tim Rauzi and grandson Dominic Gerard Rauzi.
Family will greet friends Friday, February 2, 2024 from 5:00 -7:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street S.W., Altoona. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, February 3 2024 at 11:00 A.M., at Ss. John and Paul Catholic Church, 1401 1st Ave. S., Altoona.

I worked with Rick for many years from his time in Forest City onward. He was one of the nicest people that you could imagine. RIP kind soul.
