Richard Rex Marriott
of Polk City, Iowa

Rick Marriott, age 77, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born the son of Jack and Edna (Garrett) Marriott on December 23, 1947 in Osceola, Iowa.

Rick was a passionate outdoorsman, an avid collector of guns, knives, and a military sharpshooter. Rick honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. After his service, he dedicated his career to working for the City of Woodward and the City of Polk City. His passion for life included many interests and pursuits. At different times in his life, he dabbled in and excelled at woodcarving, bicycling, powerlifting, Montana trout fishing, shoeing horses, gardening, and dog training to name just a few!

He is lovingly survived by his daughter Cora (Tom) Arnburg, son Luke (Elena) Marriott, brother James (Peggy) Marriott, seven grandkids, a host of nieces and nephews, and his beloved dogs Zelda & Shelby.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, and son Aaron Marriott.
