Raymond Charles Lott Jr., son of Ray and Helen (Lewis) Lott was born March 21, 1929, in Des Moines Iowa. He lived in the Highland Park/ Oak Park area in his early years with his older brother James Grant until Ray and Helen bought a farm in Tuscumbia, Missouri. Raymond started his education there in 1933. In 1939 the family moved back to Des Moines, and he attended Oak Park Elementary and Warren Harding Junior High. The family moved to an acreage on Hobson Drive (now NE 60th Ave.) in Des Moines where he attended Woodside High School now know, as Saydel. After graduating from Woodside in 1947, He then enrolled at Simpson College and received a bachelors, degree in Sociology in 1951. From there he enrolled in Perkins Seminary at SMU in Dallas. He received his master’s degree of divinity in 1954.

Raymond was united in marriage to his school sweetheart Nora Lee Wilkinson June 19, 1949. They were the parents of 5 children. Renee Lott Johnson (Loyd) of Kirksville, MO. Anita Lott Long (Craig) of Altoona, IA., David James of Woodward, IA., Mark Allen (Kari) of Des Moines, IA. And Thomas John (Ngaire) of Des Moines, IA.

He began his ministry at age 17 as a student pastor and after graduation from SMU was appointed to Patton- Churdan where he served from 1954 to 1961. They were then appointed to Oakland Iowa in 1961 to 1966. Then to Wesley Methodist Church in Des Moines in 1966 till 1969 and served until an appointment to the first Program Staff of the United Methodist Conference in 1969. He served on the conference staff until 1973 and received an appointment to Shenandoah United Methodist Church and served until 1978. After Shenandoah an appointed to the Perry District as a superintendent was accepted and served from 1978 to 1983. After Perry, an appointed as interim pastor at Waterloo First United Methodist was filled for 1 year. A final appointment to Grinnell United Methodist Church in 1986 ended with their retirement in 1992. During their time in Grinnell, they established the Carriage House Bed and Breakfast and enjoyed entertaining people from throughout the world. Raymond and Nora Lee move to Bella Vista, AR. in 1994 and enjoyed auctions and friendship through the Methodist Church in Bentonville. They returned back to Grinnell in 2002 where they rekindled old friendships and enjoyed gardening, antiquing and grandchildren. After Nora Lee’s passing in 2016 Raymond moved to Valley View Village in Des Moines and enjoyed coffee, Men’s breakfast group and chapel as, he could. Raymond was a member of the Mason’s and was Grand Chaplain for the State of Iowa. He also was a member of the Lions Club and Rotary Club. He spent the final 6 months of his life with Thomas and Ngaire at their home which coincidentally is directly across the street from the home he lived in as a high school aged young man on the acreage. He passed peacefully at home with family.

Preceded in death by his wife Nora Lee, his parents father Raymond Sr. mother Helen. Brother Jim (Deloris). As well as other relatives. Those who continue to live in his memory are Renee Lott Johnson (Loyd), their children Franchesca (John) Cook, 4 daughters Meagan (Ethan) Wait, Maylee (great-great- granddaughter), Allison Johnston, Gracelyn Johnston, Lilly Cook; Joshua (Yasmine) Kiara, Faith, Rebekah (Nick) Neuendorf, Delaney, Brynlee, Jamison, Jordan; Anita Lott Long (Craig), their children Jeremy (Mary) William, Arthur, Stacey (Heather) St. Ores, children Axel Lybarger, Hadlee Lybarger, Issac Myers- St. Ores, Gwendolyn St. Ores; David James Lott, his children, Jesse, Dalton, Conner (Norma), Wyatt;Mark Allen Lott (Kavi), his children Alexander Lott (Myra) Cain, Zoe, Danielle (Jeremy) Atwell, Taylor, Cassidy, Alysia, Noah and Owen; Bailey Morman, April, Bo and Chance.Thomas John Lott (Ngaire West), his children Julian (Nicole Graves), Jordyn Bateman (Sean), Skylar, Hazel; Ngaire’s son Logan Hemmen.
