Raymond “Ray” Garneau, 77, passed away on July 25, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

Ray was born on July 30, 1946, to William and Dora (Millea) Garneau in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. Ray was a very hard worker throughout his life, being known as “Ray the plumber” in his plumbing career and he also owned a bar and restaurant at a point in his life. Aside from work Ray was also a very family-oriented man and especially loved anytime he got to spend with his grandchildren. Ray loved cooking which lead to his love for food as well, he used his cooking skills at any family gathering and all of his family could agree that he was an amazing cook. In his free time, Ray enjoyed going golfing, fishing, and playing card games with his family and friends.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Sharon; his sons, David (Misty) VanArkel and T.J. Garneau; his daughter, Debbie Garneau; his grandchildren, Tyler, Brayden, and Nic; his sisters, Flo and Phyllis; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, William and Dora; his brother, Richard; and his sister, Nancy.

Family will be greetings friends on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home; 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines, Iowa.
