Service Details

Quentin Billings, 21, passed away on October 16, 2024, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa.

Quentin was born on May 23, 2003, to Dina Hoffman and Gary Billings in Des Moines, Iowa. Quentin grew up on the South Side of Des Moines. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School where he ran cross country and played hockey. He became an EMT in 2021 and graduated from the Firefighter 1 Program at DMACC in July. He had ambitions to continue school to become a paramedic and eventually a flight medic.

Quentin was working as an EMT in the MercyOne ER. The trauma team shared that he was always ready for action and was able to anticipate the needs of his teammates. He joined the Polk City Fire Department in August, his chief shared, “he was so ambitious and fun to see at work. He brought a spark to our department and he was a huge morale booster without even knowing it.” He was passionate about the fire service and strived to always keep learning.

Quentin loved hanging out with his family and friends. He was loyal, thoughtful, and a goofball, able to bring a smile to anyone’s face. You could catch him at the skatepark when the temperature was above freezing and at the skating rink when the temperature was below freezing.

Quentin is dearly loved and missed. May we all let his spirit live on and aspire to live a little more like him - persevering through life’s challenges, exploring faith, and loving your friends and family unconditionally.

Quentin is survived by his mother, Dina; his father, Gary (Karen); his brothers, Elijah (Colby), Nick, Tim (Leslie), and John; and numerous other beloved family and friends.

Quentin was preceded in death by his cousin, Konner; his grandpa, Casey; and his uncle, Nathan.
