Phyllis Macken, 86, passed away surrounded by loved ones Saturday, November 25th, 2023. Born January 20, 1937 in Mason City, Iowa.
Phyllis had a deep connection to her Catholic faith. She began each morning in tranquil prayer, drawing strength and wisdom from reading her prayer book and reciting the rosary. Phyllis was in tune with the beauty of the world around her, and found solace in creating lush landscapes and bountiful gardens at her home. She found tranquility in her daily walks, energized by the earth below her and the warmth of the sun beaming down on her. She was passionate about many things, including the Minnesota Vikings, and enjoyed cheering them on. She was unapologetically herself, and her unwavering tenacity has been inherited in the hearts of those who knew her well.
She is survived by son Valentino (Dolores) Zepeda, son Daniel Zepeda Sr., daughter Sophia (Tom) Origer, daughter Lupe (Juan) Hernandez, son Ronald Macken, 26 grandchildren, and an abundance of great grandchildren. Phyllis was preceded in death by husband Ron, son Dickie, son Timothy, and great grandson Amir.
The great Matriarch of our family, Phyllis left a void that cannot be filled, yet her spirit will guide us as we continue on the path she has paved for us.
