Paul Oliver

Paul Oliver, 70, passed away on September 29, 2024, at UnityPoint Hospice Taylor House.

Paul was born on September 4, 1954, to Grace Vestal and Charles Oliver in Stockton, California. Paul married Teresa in 1981 and remained together until his passing.

Paul enjoyed antiques, classic cars, coin collecting, and train sets. Painting and making model airplanes and cars brought Paul great joy.

Paul served his country in the Army from 1971 to 1974. Following his time in the service, Paul worked at Principal Financial within the pension department prior to his disability.

Paul is survived by his wife of 43 years, Teresa; his daughters, Jill (Randy) Hartley and Stacey Oliver; Grandchildren Nathaniel Kiehl, Kaitlyn Hartley, Lincoln Hartley, and Kaleb Devan; numerous nieces and nephews; and multitudes of friends to carry his memory. The greatest source of pride for Paul was his daughters and his grandchildren.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Grace and Charles Oliver; siblings Charles “Tucker” Oliver, Jr., Joanne Geahry, Barbara Nessen, Edwin Oliver, and Richard Oliver.

Family will be greeting friends on Monday, October 7, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home; 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 8. 2024, at 10:30 am at the funeral home. Paul’s final resting place will be at Iowa Veteran’s Cemetery; 34024 Veterans Memorial Drive, Adel. Family would like to invite guests to join them after services for a Celebration of Life and light lunch at the Van Meter Legion Post; 910 Main Street, Van Meter.
