Myrtle Marvel Selander Peters

Marvel Peters passed away on October 22, 2024 at the age of 89. She was the daughter of Paul and Myrtle Selander. She attended Harcourt Consolidated School and Tobin Business College in Fort Dodge. On September 13, 1952 she married Lyle Peters. They had three children, Janell, Michael and Carol.

Her husband served as a pastor in Shenandoah, Des Moines and Eagle Grove. They also lived in Westminister, MD and Spencer, IA. She was employed at Grand View College from 1967 to 1982.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Rev. Lyle Peters, sisters Iola Brock and Clarice Lundberg, brother Kenneth Selander, and great granddaughter Grace Kesterson.

She is survived by her children Janell (Terry) Archibald, Michael (Diane) Peters and Carol (Stephen) Quick; eight grandchildren; and twenty-three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 29, 2024, with funeral service following at 11:00 a.m., at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, followed by an ice cream social. Formal procession to burial at Lost Grove Cemetery, Harcourt, Iowa.
