Micheal John Kellis

Micheal “Mike” John Kellis, 78, passed away on November 27, 2024.

Mike was born on September 6, 1946, in Des Moines, Iowa. Mike was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Kansas City Chiefs and was able to see both teams win championships. He was also a huge fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes. Mike enjoyed golfing, fishing, and camping with his family. Above all, Mike’s greatest passion and love was his grandchildren and any time he got to spend with them.

Mike is survived by his wife, Mary Jo; his sons, David (Amy) and Chad (Jill); his step-daughter, Jenny (Doug) Becker; and his grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth (Brady) Girkin, Abigail Kellis, Addison Kellis, Zennon Kellis, Grant Becker, and Rachel Becker.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Pat; his brothers, Steve and Bill; and his first wife, Kaye Kellis.

Family will be greeting friends on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a time of sharing at 7:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home; 105 4th Street SW, Altoona, Iowa. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Lutheran Church of the Cross 1701 8th Street SW, Altoona, Iowa. Mike will be laid to rest at the Altoona Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Lutheran Church of the Cross in loving memory of Mike.
