Michael “Mike” Boyd Perry
Des Moines, Iowa
Michael “Mike” Boyd Perry, 54, passed away unexpectedly on December 3, 2024 at his home. He was born on January 6, 1970 to Michael “Mick” and Fern Perry.
Mike enjoyed spreading kindness. He loved all animals. Mike had a very strong work ethic, you could say he was a workaholic. He enjoyed music and the latest technology. Mike was a loyal friend and loved his family, nieces and nephews even more than the Red Sox. Mike would give you the shirt off his back regardless if he needed it or not. He was very selfless, gave to others and always gave 110% with anything he did – his selfless choice to become an organ donor, impacted 100 lives.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Julie Spencer; mother, Fern Perry; brothers, Robert (Lindsey) Perry and Matthew Perry; brothers-in-law, Mark (Ashli) Spencer, Craig (Sheri) Schwemm, Troy (Kerri) Schwemm, and Chad Schwemm; nieces and nephews, Jayden, Shane, Taylor, Elise and Mickenna Perry, Luke, John, Rachel, Rebekah, Abby and Kayla Spencer and Hillary, Brett, Nick, Derek, Hannah and Salem Schwemm and mother-in-law, Mary Cousino.
He is preceded in death by his father, Michael “Mick” Perry; grandparents; mother and father-in-law, William “Bill” and Dee Spencer and brother-in-law, Paul Spencer.
Family will greet guests on Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at Lutheran Church of the Cross, 1701 8th Street SW, Altoona, Iowa. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Lutheran Church of the Cross, ASPCA, Animal Rescue League of Iowa or adopt a pet and treat it well in memory of Mike.

With the inclement weather that is predicted we are afraid we may not be able to attend Michael's funeral in person - which breaks our hearts. We want the family to know that we will be there in spirit. Michael's grandparents, the Perry's, and my parents were neighbors and best friends, so we've known Michael for all of his life. We know how proud Boyd and Beulah were of him and what a wonderful man he became. It meant so much to us when Michael attended my father's funeral 9 years ago. We are so saddened by the news of Michael's passing. Our thoughts are with his wife and family and we are keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers. Rest in peace, Michael.

I was surprised and saddened to hear cousin Mikes passing, I have many good memories from childhood in Okoboji at our grand parents places, church and family get togethers. He was a great example for us growing up.

Absolutely heartbroken 💔 Mike was one of my best friends growing up from the neighborhood and throughout our school years. There was a bunch of us kids on the Village Court Circle and we somehow always ended up down the street at the Perry house. Mick and Fern were like a 2nd set of parents to all of us in the neighborhood and I loved them dearly. We had the best block parties and playing jailbreak in the summer well after dark when all our parents would be on the front porch yelling to come home. He had a heart of gold and the kindest soul and he will be missed greatly. My love and prayers to Fern,, Matt, and Robby and his family. I am so very sorry for your loss.
