Michael Crankshaw

Michael Crankshaw, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. He was born the son of Molly (Clegg) and John Crankshaw on July 30, 1932, in Blackpool, England. Michael and his family moved to the United States in 1964.

He met Florence Wayman at the Winter Gardens dance club in Blackpool, England, and were married in 1956. They were together for 51 years. He took many trips with his wife, Florence before she passed in 2008. Their favorite place to travel was in Cambria, California. Michael was a design engineer for Label-Aire for over 20 years and had 20 patents to his name. He retired in 2002. Before leaving England, he worked for ICI for a number of years. Michael enjoyed, gardening, jigsaw puzzles, and was an avid bike rider in his youth.

He is survived by his children, Suzanne Collier, Ian (Cynthia) Crankshaw, and Stephen Crankshaw; grandchildren, Melissa Villarreal, Ian T. Crankshaw, Britni Crankshaw, and Amber Crankshaw; great-grandchildren, Vincent and Dominic Villarreal.

Michael was preceded in death by his wife, Florence.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December, 19, 2024. 105 4th St. SW, Altoona, Iowa 50009. Burial will take place at Altoona Cemetery following the service.
