Mary Lois Hamilton, 86, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2024.
Mary was born March 25, 1938 to George Johnson and Nona Wishon Johnson on a small farm in Mercer County Missouri.
She married Charles Dewayne Hamilton on December 4, 1954.
She loved her family, gardening, mushroom hunting, fishing, and bird watching.
Mary worked for Target for 31 years before retiring in 2003.
Mary is survived by her children, Linda “Suzie” King, Joyce (Fred) Johnson, Bev (Jim) Moore, Laurie (Mike) Otto, Gary (Becky) Hamilton and Mike (Stefanie) Hamilton; seventeen grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and her brother-in-law Keith (Sharon) Hamilton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; infant son, Phillip Hamilton; her parents; a brother, Don; and son-in-law, Danny King.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Mary will be laid to rest Friday at 11:00 a.m., at Miller Cemetery in Missouri.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Suncrest Hospice in memory of Mary.

She was my great grandma.We still have a picture of me trying to wriggle out of the chair and she made sure I didnt.She would always have cartoons on,like Spongebob.I remember her as a lady with pictures all over the place.I went to her funeral early January 2025 and I miss her.Sometimes I chat with her in my room.I always wanted to have a visit at her house,but after Covid,she wasn't feeling as good.Not from Covid,she just wasn't doing good.And at 86,she lived a long life with dozens of memories.Great-Grandma Mary I always will love you.Hope you like my letter I placed in the casket😭😭😭

I remember working with Mary many years ago at Target. She was always so friendly and easy going. My deepest condolences to the family.
