Melinda Xaysana

Melinda “Chanh” Xaysana passed away peacefully on July 7th, 2024. Melinda was born on April 3rd, 1972 to Tha and Pan Bounsiri. She was the 2nd oldest of 4 siblings. Melinda came to America in 1986 from Laos, where she first lived in Dallas, Texas and then moved to Des Moines, Iowa in 1990.

As a homemaker, Melinda loved to cook, garden, fish, and spend time with family & friends. Being outdoors was Melinda’s favorite hobby. Joy was brought to Melinda’s world when she gave birth to her only daughter in 1994 and shortly after she was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Failure at the age of 21 where she had to start treatment for dialysis. In December 2001 Melinda received her kidney transplant and lived a healthy happy life and returned back to work a few years later.

In August of 2018, her kidney failed again and she had to go back on dialysis until July 7th, 2024. Melinda had 3 grand fur babies that she loved dearly. She will be greatly missed for her kind and caring gesture, her sweet smile and laughter.

Melinda was survived by her daughter, Melissa Yin (Christopher Yin), brother, Max Bounsiri, sister, Da Bounsiri, many nieces and nephews.

Melinda was proceeded in death by her parents, Tha and Pan Bounsiri, Brother; Saengla Bounsiri.
