Mary Elizabeth Cox, 95, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2024 at Valley View Village in Des Moines. She was born on April 5, 1929 to Joseph and Helen (Kellog) Goode.

Mary was a member of Marquisville United Methodist Church and Berwick’s Women’s Club. She enjoyed playing cards and taking the kids fishing in Clear Lake. Mary was very active her entire life, being involved in the 4-H Club and singing at the Iowa State Fair. She married Bill in 1940 and was a lifelong resident of Des Moines. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Mary is survived by her children, Sharon Pothast, Robert “Bobby” (Cinda) Cox and Roy Cox; siblings, Doris Herman and Ruth Roenfanz 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and one great great granchild on the way.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill; son, Raymond Cox and son-in-law, Earl Pothast.

Family will greet guests on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 from 5:00 -7:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.
