Mary Blaylock

Mary Jane Blaylock, 84, passed away on June, 13, 2024.

Mary was born on June 20, 1939, to William and Thelma (Burt) Spencer in Des Moines, Iowa. Mary was a graduate from Lincoln High School, class of ’58. Mary worked in retail at Target. She was a family woman and loved her time with all her family, especially her grandkids. Mary loved to go camping with her husband, going to garage sales with her brother and sister-in-law, and going on trips to Vegas. She had quite the collection of hat pins and she was very proud of her collection.

Mary is survived by her sons, Greg (Sheri) Blaylock, Steve (Terri) Blaylock, Richard (Gina) Blaylock, David (Ambra) Blaylock; her daughter, Lori Cummings; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents, William and Thelma; her brothers, Richard Spencer and Raymond Spencer; and her sister-in-law, Janice Spencer

Family will be greeting friends on Friday, June 21, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home; 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines. Mary will be laid to rest at Avon Cemetery during a private family burial.
