Mary Benavides
May 25, 1943 — February 02, 2025
Mary Benavides, 81, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on February 2, 2025.
Mary was born May 25, 1943 in Sterling, Colorado to John and Anna (Lorea) Padilla. She was a devoted homemaker who took pride in raising her family. Mary loved playing games and gambling. Prairie Meadows, Left Right Center, Bags, Yahtzee, Sorry and 5 Cards up were her favorite ways of taking everyone’s money and she always knew how to keep the fun going. Her home was always filled with love, laughter and plenty of food to go around. Mary was a wonderful cook whose door was always open to feed her family and friends. She loved sharing her cooking knowledge and passing her recipes to those around her. At 6 o’clock when the cooking was done, it was her time to take a break with a cold Coors Light. Mary had an impact on all those who knew her and she became a beloved mom and grandma to all she welcomed into her home.
Mary is survived by her children, Corrina Padilla, Lorraine Benavides, Seferino Benavides Jr., Rochelle (Jeff Allen) Benavides, Michelle (Johnathan) McMaster, Ruben Guerrero and Corrine Benavides; sister, Rebecca Roybal; many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Padilla; four brothers; four sisters; and her husband, Seferino Espinosa Benavides.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. My deepest sympathy to the entire family. Mary was a very important part of my life growing up on Mason Ave. We had the best neighborhood and the people were our family. Love you All
