Marla Duarte

Marla “Coco” Duarte, 71, passed away October 12, 2024 at Unity Point Iowa Methodist Medical Center.

Coco was born on June 13, 1953 in Puebla, Puebla Mexico to Andres Sancen and Maria Morales Moncada. She grew up in Mexico and moved to Des Moines in 1993. In 1990, she married Jorge Duarte. Coco had worked for Osceola Meats and Windsor Windows. She enjoyed shopping, especially for shoes and handbags. Coco loved to travel, watch movies and spend time with her dogs.

Coco is survived by her husband, Jorge Duarte; children, Lorenzo (Lili) Mayoral, Alberto (Jessica) Mayoral, Crysthian Mayoral, Alexandro Duarte and Gina Duarte; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; Godson, Giovanni Bahena; and a host of extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandchild.

No services are planned at this time. Coco will be laid to rest in Mexico.
