Mark Martin, 64, passed away February 27, 2025.
Mark was born September 14, 1960 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Emmett and Patricia (Savage) Martin. He grew up in Clare, Iowa and attended St. Edmund’s Catholic School in Fort Dodge. Mark moved to the Southside of Des Moines in 1993 and started his apprenticeship with Carpenters Local Union 106, which he later retired from. In 2011, he purchased LD’s Corner Bar. Mark enjoyed fishing and gardening. He loved his dogs and his grandchildren.
Mark is survived by his children, Lyndsey, Brandi and Dustin; grandchildren, Koral, Kaya, Khloe, Maya, Leo, Emmett, Theodore, Callan and Benny; sisters, Luann, Rae and Vicki; brother, Joe; and a host of extended family and great friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Denise; and his dog, LD.
The family will greet friends Sunday, March 9, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. A luncheon will follow at LD’s Corner Bar, 344 E. Jackson Avenue, Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be directed to AHeinz 57 Pet Rescue and Transport in loving memory of Mark.

Dear Brandi and Family
My heartfelt condolences to each of you.
I served Mark at ISB for a decade. Such a great guy who loved his family much.
May eternal rest grant unto Mark oh Lord and may perpetual light shine upon him.
May his soul and the souls of the faithful departed thru the mercy of God., rest in peace.

My sincerest sympathies for you Brandi, Dustin, and all the family. This was such a shock to hear about Mark’s passing and it grieves me deeply. He was a huge part of my life. He loved his kids and grandkids so much! May he rest in peace and may the entire family be comforted in their mourning. ❤️🙏
