Marida Sickels

Marida Sickels, 85, passed away January 16, 2024 at UnityPoint Hospice – Taylor House.

Marida was born March 24, 1938 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Raleigh and Margurite (Collins) Annis. Her and her husband enjoyed going and selling at flea markets, meeting people and talking with them. She missed her husband every day for 21 years.

She never drove but always found a way for her daughters to partake in the things they loved like swimming and skating lessons. She was kind and sweet and spoiled her grandson. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Marida is survived by her daughter, Christine Romine; sisters, Joyce Large, Lynn Penniston and Dee Annis Millard; brothers, Hiram (Sonny) Annis, Floyd (Butch) Annis, Charles (Petey) Annis, Mike Annis and Jeff Annis; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Orville Sickels; daughter, Elaine; grandson, Robert “Rob” Romine; son-in-law, Robert Romine; sisters, Shirley Eakins and Bonnie Penrod; and brothers, Ed Annis and Raleigh (Butch) Annis.

The family will greet friends Monday, January 22, 2024 from 10:00 to 11:30 am at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street followed by a graveside service at 12:00 pm at Elm Grove Cemetery.
