Margaret Joan “Annie” Viola, 89 passed away peacefully on January 24, 2024, at Ramsey Village
Care Facility.

Annie was born September 5, 1934, in Dexter Iowa to Harry and Lulu Wykoff. She was a graduate
of Des Moines Technical High School where she made several lifelong friends. After graduation
she worked at Electrical Service and Sales in Des Moines Iowa and met her future husband Joseph
Francis Viola. They were married at St. Anthony’s Catholic church in Des Moines, Iowa on August
9th, 1953. She was a homemaker and also worked part time after her children started school finishing out her career and retiring from Wells Fargo Financial. While spending 56 years together, Annie and Joe enjoyed square dancing, camping, playing cards with friends, dancing at the VFW Post and raising their three children Joe, Vicki and Michelle along with spending time with their grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Annie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by son Joseph Viola Jr. (Karen), daughter Vicki Spiller (Bruce); grandchildren Todd Ellis (Tracy), Erica Spiller (Lauren), Cole Johnson (Jordan), Margaret Bailey (Dean), Angela Viola (Josh); great grandchildren, Juliana, Aida, Camden, Cami Drew, June, Austen, and Dylan.

She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph; daughter Michelle; siblings Elizabeth, Evelyn, William, Howard, Robert, Hazel, Ella Mae and Mildred and her late life companion, Allen Fife.

Family will greet guests from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.
