Service Details

Margareta Bright
Columbia, SC

Margareta Bright, age 54, went to be with the lord on Friday, November 10, 2023, at Richland Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. Margareta was born March 15, 1969, to Opal Gene Gulley and Lawrence Lonnie Williams in Flint, Michigan. She graduated from George Washington High School in Denver as a honor roll student. She was working on completing her degree in Early Education from the University of South Carolina.

Margareta was united in marriage to Jonathan Bright on November 18th, 1991, in Maryland. This year would have been 32 years of marriage. She had her first son Jonathan Jr. Bright (Jay) on October 4th, 1992. Her second son Michael Bright on April 19th, 2003. Margareta was a selfless, loving human being who had sacrifice much of her wants and needs for the wants and needs of her sons. She worked hard to make sure that her children were equipped with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to make them an accomplished human being.

Margareta had the biggest heart and the most beautiful smile. She was a private and quiet person, but also very witty and fun! She was fearless and independent, yet sensitive and incredibly compassionate. She loved making her yard beautiful, with flowers, scrubs, and bushes; running in the morning 3 to 5 miles, games that challenged the mind (scrabble); learning about other cultures (Spanish) and listen to good R&B music.

Margareta was strong-willed and persistent, but those traits defined Margareta. They were part of who she was, and her strength undoubtedly helped her deal with life’s challenges. From age 24, Margareta battled Breast Cancer. Margareta was a strong fighter, but she is now resting well in the arms of our father god. We know she is free from pain and is peacefully in heaven with other family members that have passed away.

She is survived by her husband, Jonathan Bright; sons, Jonathan Bright Jr. and Michael Bright; father, Lawrence Williams; sisters, Felicia Paris, Jamie Lynn Gulley, and Lillian S. Gibson; brothers, Stacy D Williams, Jerry Johnson and Antoine Johnson; sister-in-law, Kathina Allen; nephews, Leon Paris, Jerome Mozee, Elijah Cobbins and Julien Cobbins; sister and brothers-in-law; Lownyeatt Southward, Melissa Allen, Lown Allen, Siqueta Allen, LaTina Jones, LaTonya Jones, Lloyd Djuan Jones, Deirdre Jones-Clausell, Lola Jones, Sherrie Dent; and a host of other extended relatives and friends.
