Lois Jerome

Lois Jane (Howe) Jerome (90) passed away on Sunday, December 10th 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, IA.

Lois was born on August 28th 1933 to Allen L. Howe and Laura D (Fox) Howe in Lexington, NE. She was the youngest of 11 children, and was raised on a farm where she enjoyed all cattle, pony’s, saddle horses and dogs among many other animals.

She graduated from High School in Kearney, NE, and following worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for over 31 years, retiring in 1983.

Lois enjoyed needle work, crocheting, knitting and sewing. Over her lifetime she made many afghans and other items for her family, friends and various local organizations.

Lois wed to Robert (Bob) D. Jerome on January 18th 1959 in Carson City, NV. Together they had three children. She is proceeded in death by her husband Bob, parents, and all her siblings.

Survived by her three children, Ricky (Jenny) Crumpler of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Christine Mettler of Seattle, Washington, and Allen (Lori) Jerome of Clive, Iowa and her 10 grandchildren and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Oralabor Cemetery, 515 SE Oralabor Road, Ankeny, Iowa.
