LeRoy Joe Law

LeRoy Joe Law, age 86, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2024. LeRoy was born to John and Pearl Law on March 16, 1938, in Audubon, IA. The family moved to Des Moines, IA in 1943. Following graduation from East High School he worked as a mailer for Wallace Homestead for 8 years and Meredith Printing/RR Donnelley for 34 years. He enjoyed pitching and promoting horseshoes and was inducted into the Iowa Hawkeye Horseshoe Pitchers Association Hall of Fame in 2008. He served as Superintendent of Horseshoes at the Iowa State Fair, Director of Iowa Senior Games Horseshoes and tournaments and leagues in West Des Moines for many years.

LeRoy is survived by his four children, Deborah Robinson (Randy), Michael (Lilly) Law, Kathleen Beaderstadt (Dick), Jeffrey Law, grandchildren, Amy (Derek) Timm, Emily (Travis) Ahlers, Kathleen Baker, Kristen (Brad Lee) Robinson, Kimberly (Jake) McMains, and Bret Beaderstadt, great-grandchildren, Carson Timm, Brian Timm, Caleb Ahlers, Alex Baker, Maddox Baker, Jett McMains, and Jace McMains, and sister, Esther Crowell.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his father, John Law, mother, Pearl Law, and brothers, Edward Law and Harold Law.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with funeral service to begin at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial will be held at a later date at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to Hospice or other caregiver organizations.
