Llana S. Karch of Johnston, IA passed away unexpectedly on January 31, 2025 at the age of 83. Llana was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose kindness, warmth, and joy for life touched everyone who knew her. She lived a life filled with love and cherished moments and had a way of making everyone feel special. Llana found joy in the simple things like spending time with family and friends, her pets, gift giving, and cooking. Her love for her family and animals, big personality, and persistence in overcoming obstacles will always be remembered.

Born on December 27, 1941 in Santa Ana, CA to Maurice and Marion Sanborn, Llana was raised by her grandparents Neal and Esther Sanborn. Llana spent her working years in corporate accounting and credit management. Llana dedicated her life to her family, filling their lives with warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love. She was a pillar of strength and kindness, always ready with a comforting word, a warm embrace, or a home-cooked meal that brought everyone together.

Llana is survived by her loving children, Jeff Karch (Jill) and Deb Karch; as well as her cherished grandchildren, Jonathan (Danielle) Karch, Shaun Karch, and Sierra Karch, and beloved great-grandchildren, Hudson, Violette, Lawson, and Hayes. She also leaves behind dear friends and extended family who will forever treasure her memory. She is now reunited for eternity with those who passed before her.

Llana’s legacy of love, compassion, and generosity will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. Her family finds solace in the beautiful memories she created and the values she instilled in them.

A family celebration of her life will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.

Though she may no longer be physically present, her love will remain a guiding light for all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
