Service Details

Linda Jane (Hatcher) Spencer, entered into the presence of the Lord on 12/12/2024 at the age of 76 in Des Moines, Iowa. Linda was a beautiful Christian woman, especially known for her love of music, the arts, and children’s development. At the age of five, she sang on the radio with her father, Lawrence. She was always supportive of her two daughters' involvement in choir and musical theater. In 1991, Linda had the honor of creating a PowerPoint presentation for the Des Moines School Board to help Valley High School obtain a $500,000 grant to build an addition specifically for music and the arts. This addition is now known as The Performing Arts Center. At that time, the school board had suggested removing music and the arts as standard classes, but Linda drafted a persuasive report on how these subjects help students express themselves and cope with life as they mature into adulthood. Her presentation successfully secured the grant, and she was very proud of this accomplishment.

Linda and her husband, Loyd, loved to travel with their two daughters and had a great love for the outdoors and animals, both domestic and wild. They both enjoyed the Star Wars series, Star Trek series, and James Bond movies. Linda also served as the office manager for the businesses she and Loyd ran over the years.

Linda’s family wants to express their deep gratitude for Hospice Nurse Ngaire (Nawri). She selflessly ensured that Linda received the best care. On Linda’s last day, Ngaire stayed with her for several hours. She called Linda’s daughter, Lisabeth, put her on speakerphone so Linda could hear her voice. This soothed Linda and she was able to rest. Ngaire noticed the special bond between Linda and Lisabeth and saw how Linda calmed down and fell into a peaceful sleep after hearing Lisabeth’s voice. God bless Ngaire for her dedication and compassion for her patients.
God’s blessing to all whom have been included in this obituary and many others who have passed and are still with us from Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, 2nd Cousins, 3rd cousins and so on. Linda Spencer also had a group of friends whom she used to go to lunch with from time to time. She would always speak very highly of each of them and was so grateful to have a bunch of friends.

May the Lord Jesus Christ welcome her into His arms.
