Lewis Warner

Lewis Warner, age 91, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026. He was born the son of Lewis E. and Illo (Wheeler) Warner on November 3, 1934, in Des Moines, Iowa.
On October 15, 1955, Lewis married the love of his life, Marie Armida Ballantini. Lewis worked at Firestone for 35 years as a tire builder and supervisor. He proudly served in the United States Army for two years, including six months at Fort Chaffee and 18 months stationed in Germany. Lewis enjoyed trips to Florida and Branson Missouri, working in his yard, watching westerns on TV, and on Saturday nights, working on sprint cars at Knoxville Raceway. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Marie; children, Chris (Duane) Elscott, Greg (Jodi) Warner, Cathy (Kirk) Besh; 5 grandchildren, A.J. (Jane) Warner, Casie Howells, Benjamin Besh, Patrick Besh, Nicholas Elscott; 8 great grandchildren, Matthew Warner, Bentley Warner, Silas Warner, Kallin Besh, Cameron Besh, Caleb Howells, Caelin Howells, Cobin Howells.
Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, and brother.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 10:00- 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian burial to follow visitation at 11:00 a.m. All Saints Catholic Church. 650 NE 52nd Ave, Des Moines, Iowa 50313. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and doctors on the 3rd floor at Lutheran Hospital, as well as the staff at Ramsey Village and UnityPoint Hospice, for their compassionate care and support.
