Leonard “Len” Raymond Van Lent

Leonard (Len) Raymond Van Lent of Ankeny, Iowa, entered his heavenly home on January 20, 2025 at the age of 82. He was born April 14, 1942, to Louis and Elsie (Engels) Van Lent in Mason City, Iowa and graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in Dougherty, Iowa

Len grew up on the family farm, lived in Mason City, and worked for the USDA. His career of 38 years took him to various locations in Iowa, and he settled in Ankeny, Iowa. In retirement he found the perfect job for his long-time interest in cars at Willis.

Len and Patricia (Pat) Klonglan were married in August 1981. He embraced the addition of a mother-in-law, aunt, three step-children, four step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.

Len is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Rozena, Lora and Midge as well as many nephews, nieces and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Ted, Walt, Joe, Florence, Helen, Mary, Emily and Erma.

Len enjoyed gardening, keeping a nice lawn, fishing at Clear Lake, and watching the Minnesota Vikings with a Bud Light.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at the Ankeny Diner, 133 SE Delaware Ave., Ankeny, Iowa from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
