Lyle was born August 14, 1932 to Otto and Dorothy E. (Hanson) Bergeson in Iowa Falls, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical Reformed Church in Buckeye, IA. He graduated from 8th grade at Buckeye Community Schools and High School at Alden Community School. He was active in all sports and held several offices including Junior Class President. Since graduating young it was decided that he would work for Weaver Construction for a year. He then entered college at Upper Iowa University. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and was sent to Officers Candidate School in Quantico, Virginia. After school being promoted to 2nd Lt., he spent the rest of his service at the US Naval Air Base in Tokyo Bay, Japan. Upon discharge as a 1st Lt., he entered Law School at the University of Iowa. After 1 year he was recruited by Employers Mutual Ins. Co. He was involved in real estate most of his life.

Lyle was preceded in death by his mother and father, brother Robert Sr., sister Donna and brother Dennis. He is survived by one brother Terry (Veda) of Ankeny, IA.

Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 22, 2023 at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Van Meter.
