Laurence B. Wood II

Laurence (Larry) B. Wood II, age 90, died on January 6, 2025.

Larry was born on July 11, 1934, to John Wood and Marie Neal in Atlantic, Iowa. He was a retired printer pressman. Larry served in the United States Naval Air from 1951 to 1955. He enjoyed his time with his family and friends and also traveling with his wife, Margie.

Larry is survived by his wife of 69 years, Margie; daughters, Becky (Joe) Solinger of Altoona and Jenny (Jim) Coulson of Runnells; sons, Larry Wood III of Kansas City, Tom (Diane) Wood of Ankeny, and John (Glenda) Wood of Omaha; sister, Pat Weiser of Des Moines; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, John Wood and Marie Neal; brother, Tim Wood; and sister, Beth Jacobsen.

Family will be greeting friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home; 105 4th Street SW, Altoona, Iowa. Funeral service will be held following the visitation at the funeral home. Larry will be laid to rest at Altoona Cemetery.
