Kristin Denise Harris

Kristin Harris, 69, passed away October 25, 2023, at UnityPoint Health - Taylor House in Des Moines. Kristin was born April 28, 1954, in Ashdown, Arkansas, the daughter of Keith and Evelyn DeNeui.

As a child Kristin was diagnosed with bilateral kidney reflux and so over the course of her life, placed her faith in Jesus Christ and battled valiantly to both out-survive the prognosis and to live life to the fullest regardless. First, she was a very dedicated sister to her siblings and then eventually a devoted wife who relished being a mother and welcomed four children into her home through adoption.

As a homemaker and caretaker of her family, Kristin loved also to play hand bells and sing as a part of her church choir, crochet, cross-stitch and relished any opportunity she had to read the latest Agatha Christie novel. After raising her four children, she enjoyed spoiling her many, many grandchildren. Despite her chronic illness, she did all she could to ensure her family was afforded every opportunity to vacation, camp, and take in all the simple celebrations of life. She, along with her husband Tony created family traditions that would forever mark the memories of all her loved ones. She believed that Jesus Christ was her Lord and Savior and, to the very end, did all she could to share her faith with those she loved.

Kristin is survived by her children, Katy (Marty) Kerns, Kody (Nayeli) Harris, Kory Harris and Kelsy Mroz; grandchildren Brandon, Karly, Allie, Ashley, Carlos, Christian, Mallory, Lucas, Ayden, Emma and Lucy; great grandchildren Bentley and Wren; sister Susan (Stephen) Mayer; nieces Holly (Tarrell) Keuning, Bethany (Jason) Maen, Valerie (Mike) Stubs as well as many other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Lon De Neui, and husband Tony Harris.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, November 3, 2023 at Pine Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.
