Kenneth (Ken) H. Rasmussen, 84, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2023 to be with his Lord. He was born April 23, 1939 to Harold and Evelyn Rasmussen.

He graduated from East High School in 1957 and while there he participated in band, track and basketball. Following graduation, he attended Luther College where he met his wife, Alice. They were married for 62 years. Ken worked for 32 years in telephone communications at Northwestern Bell, Massey Ferguson, Pioneer Data, Meredith and Polk County. He also enjoyed music and was choir director for many years at Luther Memorial Church.

Ken loved to travel with his wife and especially enjoyed China and Alaska. His favorite activity was riding his red Stallion motor trike.

Ken is survived by his wife, Alice; daughters, Melanie (John) Blakeley and Deanne (Russ) Underwood; 5 grandchildren, Alicia (Ryan) Neururer, Aaron (Alyssa) Underwood, Justin Underwood, Alyson and Abby Blakeley; 3 great grandchildren and sister, Mary (John) Bratt.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Luther Memorial Church, 1201 Grandview Ave., Des Moines, Iowa 50316 or Unity Point Hospice.

Ken has been cremated and a celebration of life will be held on October 28th from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Luther Memorial Church.
