Keith Massey

Keith Jay Massey, age 87, passed away on November 18, 2024, at home surrounded by his loved ones.

Keith was born in Jefferson, South Dakota, on November 29, 1936, to Lorren and Mildred Massey. While serving in the Army in Germany, he met a young German fraulein who would become the love of his life. A year later, she moved to the United States, and they were married on May 16, 1959. They were married for over 65 wonderful years. They went on to have four children. They spent their years traveling visiting relatives and new places along with watching their grandchildren play sports. Keith’s other great love in life was golf. Whether during his working years or in retirement, he spent every possible day on the greens or in the clubhouse playing cards. A familiar face at Blank Golf Course, Keith’s love for the game and camaraderie with fellow golfers were constants in his life.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Karin; his children, Andrea, Thomas (Terra), Charles (Amy), and Christin, recently widowed by her cherished husband, Jim; his sisters, Leona and Donna; his brother, Ron (Mary); his grandchildren, Brittany, Nicole, Stephanie, Andrew, Chas, Owen, Peiton, Meilin, Sawyer, Soriya, Finley, and Galen; and his great-grandchildren; Anthony, Korri, Avery, Marli, and Annalynn.

Preceding Keith in death are both of his parents; his twin brother, Kenny; and his brothers, Arvin and Ellis.

Family will be greeting friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home; 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines. A funeral service with United States Army military honors will be held immediately following the visitation at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
