Kathryn "Kathy" Ann Stackhouse
February 08, 1968 — December 09, 2025
Kathy Ann Stackhouse, 57, passed away on Tuesday, December 9th, 2025 at her home in Altoona. Known as ‘Chick’ to many, Kathy’s deep kindness brought boundless joy to the many people - and animals - who filled her life. Kathy fostered her free spirit through a passion for sports and travel, creating memories to the sound of Woodstock-like rock n’ roll.
For 34 years, Kathy shared her life with her husband and companion, Lou Sipolt Jr. The pair built a partnership rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering devotion.
Kathy is lovingly survived by her parents, Linda and Dennis Stackhouse, brother Rob (Lesa) Stackhouse, sisters Rhonda (Roger) Reynoldson and Kim (Brian) Vance, and many cherished nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved ‘pack’ of dogs – an assortment of four-legged friends Kathy adored pet sitting.
In honor of her lifelong passion for animals, family and friends have created a GoFundMe page. Donations will be split equally between the Animal Rescue League of Iowa and AHeinz57 Pet Rescue and Transport. In lieu of sending flowers, supporters are asked to contribute, so Kathy’s ‘pack’ might grow to touch countless more lives: http://gofund.me/fa1259561
Visitation for family and close friends will be held on Saturday, December 20th from 2:00pm-4:00pm at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, Iowa.
A Celebration of Life Service, open to all well-wishers, will be held on January 3rd, 2026 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m., at Terrace Hills Golf Course, 8700 NE 46th Ave., Altoona, Iowa.
Kathy will be remembered for her compassion, her vibrant spirit, her humor, and the love she shared so freely. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
